Long past time to move on

At present, COVID-19 is killing as many people as 9/11 did about every four days.

There’s a straight line from the collective madness of the United States after 9/11 to Donald Trump, QAnon, and American fascism.

So long as the national security apparatus put in place after 9/11 in our collective madness remains in place, the tools of fascism will remain available to any Mussolini wanna-be who pursues the Presidency.

If We the People fail to be understand and accept our own responsibility for the atrocities that happened after 9/11 in our name, and yes, even for the atrocities that inspired 9/11 in the first place, we will see the same horrors visited upon our land again and again and again.

For many of us as individuals, the wounds from 9/11 may never heal. But it is long past time for all of us to let go of our collective mourning and allow the national wounds inflicted by 9/11 to scar over.
