Wine review: Viña Zaco Tempranillo 2015

Viña Zaco Tempranillo, 2015
Verdict: OK, but not amazing. Maybe that’s because of how long it was left to breathe or what I ate with it. Try again and reassess with a different meal.

Maker: Viña Zaco, Rioja, Spain

Style: Rioja (Tempranillo)

Description: Mild, few tannins, very fruity and smooth to drink.

Story: Drank the first time after it had been left breathing in the bottle for about 40 minutes. My wife and I used it to cook with (french onion soup) initially but drank the rest. Don’t cook with any wine you don’t want to drink with.

I’m not sure I’d cook french onion soup with it again, as I think the soup would do better with a wine with more tannins, but maybe that’s just me.
