ICE leadership has gone full Nazi

For the last 80 days we have been living under a fascist government. That didn’t mean we were living in a modern-day version of Nazi Germany, though. One of the main differences between the Italian Fascists and the Nazis was that the Nazis industrialized fascism and made it efficient and lethal, something the Fascists didn’t until after the start of World War II (and even then only with German help). I’ve been extraordinarily careful using the word “Nazi” to describe anything since spring of 1994, and I don’t consider it a term that should ever be used lightly (no “soup Nazi” or “parking Nazi” jokes from me).

To date, Trump’s fascism has been massively disruptive, but often inept. More like the Italian Fascists than the Nazis, in other words. And Trump himself is more of a modern-day Mussolini than a Hitler. But the German NSDAP didn’t become the Nazis of the Holocaust overnight, so there has always been a chance that the US under Trump would end up going the Nazi route. And if it did, I had a moral duty to call it out as such.

On April 8, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the Border Security Expo, parts of the Trump Administration went full Nazi.

The Arizona Mirror was able to attend, and this is some of their reporting (see this link for the full article).

“We need to get better at treating this like a business,” Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said, explaining he wants to see a deportation process “like (Amazon) Prime, but with human beings.”

Several speakers, including [border “czar” Tom] Homan, told the military industrial complex representatives in the crowd that the Trump administration is depending on the private sector to implement its mass deportation agenda.

“We need to buy more beds, we need more airplane flights and I know a lot of you are here for that reason,” Homan told the crowd in his keynote speech, which kicked off the expo.

“Let the badge and guns do the badge and gun stuff, everything else, let’s contract out,” he said.

Let me utterly clear about this:

Calling for an “Amazon Prime for human beings” IS industrialized fascism.

Enlisting private enterprise and touting profits to be made off forced relocation and concentration camps IS industrialized fascism.

Nazism IS industrialized fascism.

That means Todd Lyons is a Nazi. And Tom Homan is a Nazi.

If you plan to make money off concentration camps and forced relocation of migrants and refugees, you’re a Nazi too.

And if you think that what Lyons and Homan have proposed is a good idea, you’re also a Nazi.

This has crossed a very dangerous line. Fascism is awful enough, but this has the US trending toward a modern-day Nazi state. We still have a chance to turn back, but it’ll take a whole hell of a lot of pushback and a whole hell of a lot of apathetic people waking up to make it happen.
