Alumni support of Paterno damages Penn State’s reputation

The Trustees protected Penn State's reputation when they unanimously voted to fire Joe Paterno. It's my fellow alumni who are damaging the university's reputation by supporting a coach who failed to meet his moral and ethical responsibilities.

The pro-Paterno rioters at Penn State showed a remarkable lack of self-awareness and/or intelligence when they rioted in support of a man who clearly failed to meet his ethical and moral duty even has he (barely) met the legal requirement to report sexual abuse.

I've been keeping my head down since the Penn State pedophilia scandal broke. You see, I'm a Penn State alum, and it's taking me time to sort out how I feel about this. Right now, though, I know that nothing about the scandal will tarnish or erase my experiences from my time at Penn State.
